CGI Federal desired a comfortable, cohesive American headquarters space they would be proud to show-off without being ostentatious, as they cater primarily to U.S. federal agencies. They also wanted the space to reflect their CGI Federal Emerging Technologies Practice which brings the latest technology innovations locally to their clients. Not only did all seven floors within the scope need to be consistent, but CGI Federal also wanted to use this opportunity to revise the design language and standards of future renovations in other locations. From space size to finishes, the effort to standardize the workspace would allow for flexibility between departments as they change per project. These revised standards could then also be carried to new locations for brand consistency and efficiency in facility management.
The design concept came together from the idea of the digital connectivity that CGI provides to their clients as a technology company with the desire for a comfortable and inviting space. Using the foundation of a digital web and extracting organic forms found within CGI marketing materials and graphics while implementing the concept with natural materials helped to convey the desired intent.
