FORM’s office wanted to emulate a raw workshop where visitors could watch and experience design in action. Designers strived to practice restraint in the overall design, taking full advantage of the building’s existing features. To emphasize the importance of the employees, a monochrome color pallet was selected, allowing people and projects to bring life and color into the space.
The office was designed to support the employees’ desired free address work style; however, to ensure a sense of place each employee was given a permanent desk on the lit platform, while owners and principals sit on the concrete floor. This design movement visually translated FORM’s ethos of putting its employees on a pedestal.
